Finally the wait has come to an end and Samsung finally revealed the most awaited phone of the year, which is also the successor of the most popular smartphone of 2012, Galaxy S3. Yes, Galaxy S4 has been announced at the Radio City hall in New York.
Well, If you were expecting Samsung to bring in a completely revolutionary piece, you are in for a surprise. Yes, because we feel its more of an update of Samsung Galaxy S3 than a completely new conceptual device. Galaxy S4 has definitely got few interesting things up its sleeve but are they revolutionary? We shall make out soon. So, here are the specs of the latest device.
Samsung Galaxy S4 Specs and Features
The phone has got pretty much the same look and feel of Galaxy SIII, with the same sleek look but it’s got a slightly bigger 5 inch screen.
Apart from the 1080 Super AMOLED screen, the device sports a 1.9Ghz quad-core processor with 2G of RAM. Samsung has taken care that it has the highest battery life currently in the market for a smartphone around 2,600mAh with constant efforts to make the most of it.
The best part begins here – Cameras. Galaxy S4 has a 13-megapixel rear facing camera and a 2-megapixel front camera. The phone comes with a set of very handy software features like DualShot using which anyone can take a photo with both the front and rear camera at the same time and then combine the two together into a single photograph. The device also offers 12 different shooting modes.
Coming to the software side of the device, Samsung has done some real good job that makes the device noteworthy. Firstly, it pushes the latest version Android 4.2.2 adding Galaxy’s flavor to it. Below are few outstanding features which Galaxy S4 brings with it.
A new feature called Group Play will let you share music, photos and games with the people around you. Like you can play music together with you friends by sharing their phone’s speaker to play music together.
Smart Scroll Feature will allow you to scroll through websites by just tilting your device. Also there are Air View features that will let you hover you fingers over your email or other things to get a larger preview of things. And there is Air Gesture that will help you answer a call or change a song and even scroll a webpage by just waving your hand.
Smart Pause feature will let you control the screen with your eyes. The feature would stop and start video based on whether or not you’re looking at the screen.
Apart from the above features, there is an S Health feature which will help you keep track of what you eat and your sleep patterns. Well, there is an optional ‘S Band” that can connect to your phone through Bluetooth and take advantage of the above feature.
Samsung has introduced S Translate which lets you translate emails or text messages into one of the nine languages and the translation can be both from speech to text and text to speech.
Well Samsung has done a real good job from the software front and it really makes the device standout from others. Samsung will definitely want to create the same magic with the sales numbers as it did with Galaxy S3 last year.
And if you are willing to get Galaxy S4, you will have to wait till April. No pricing is announced as of now but most of the carriers will be sporting this fabulous device.
Finally, after having seen Galaxy S4 specs and features, we think Samsung has done a good job with this device. But still it can’t be said to be revolutionary but a definite worthwhile upgrade of Galaxy S3.
