The Samsung Galaxy S4 is perhaps the most anticipated, speculated and talked about device on the planet currently. And with good reason. After all, the Galaxy S lineup has always been Samsung’s crowning glory, and has played a crucial role in Samsung’s rise to the top. That and the fact that Samsung has always bested the previous year’s Galaxy S handset with better hardware, software and a bevy of useful features in each edition. Sales of the Galaxy S2, and 2012′s Galaxy S3 are undisputed testimony to the fact that there are a phenomenal number of takers out there for a Samsung Galaxy Sx handset.
With established OEMs like Sony and HTC already having announced their flagship devices for 2013 – the Xperia Z and the HTC One, the focus is now on Samsung, and what it is going to deliver in terms of the Galaxy S4. There have already been leaked renders, images of a purported case for the Galaxy S4 which gave an idea of how the handset is designed, along with a a couple of pictures of what was allegedly the real McCoy. A few days ago, it was reported that Samsung was sending out invites for a Samsung Unpacked episode that was scheduled to be held on March 14th in New York. The invite also carried a clever punchline asking invitees if they were Ready 4 the show (Not the usage of the number 4) along with a tagline which said Get ready for the New Galaxy. While it did not explicitly mention the Galaxy S4 anywhere, the timing (With HTC and Sony having already taken a lead) definitely seems to suggest that March 14th will be the D-day for the SGS4.
On to more exciting, current affairs. Last week we saw a few leaked pics of what was allegedly the Galaxy S4 bootscreen, and if this is the real deal, then Samsung seems to have moved away from the rounded-edge Galaxy S3 design and opted to go with squared-off edges reminiscent of the Galaxy S2. Late last night, a new set of pics have emerged via Italian blog AndroidCaotic which again show off the Galaxy S4 bootscreen, and give a blurry but fair idea of the overall design and shape of the device, which seems to be in line with the squared-off edges seen earlier. You can also see the model number GT-I9500, which seems to be in line with the progression through the Galaxy S (Gt-I9000) , the Galaxy S2 (Gt-I9100) and the Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300). Likely specs (speculated so far) include a 4.99″ Full HD display (SuperAMOLed OR SoLux), either the Exynos 5 Octa OR the Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB RAM and a 13 MP camera .
That said, the new image is very blurry and considerably dark, indicating that it has probably been clicked in a dark room. And it would seem that either the person who clicked the pic, or the one who held the device up has a very shaky pair of hands. Here are the leaked pics ( today’s pic -on the left , and the one that surfaced last week- on the right) for your reference. As you can see, the squared-off design is pretty clear, even under the less than acceptable lighting. That said, March 14th is just a coupe of weeks away, and we should finally be able to lay eyes on the next big thing from Sammy. And don’t be so sure we wouldn’t be seeing any more leaks before D-Day.
