Sometimes, there is nothing quite like owning an official Nexus device. While Samsung, HTC, Motorola, and others have put together some amazing Android devices that work really well, the Nexus series has always been a developer favorite and seems to always have the best mods for those who enjoy rooting and modding their devices. A mod recently came out for the Nexus 7 that allows people to boot from multiple ROMs. This isn’t restricted to just Android, either. You can boot Android, Ubuntu, and possibly even Ubuntu Mobile with this mod.
It was posted to the XDA-Developer forums by a recognized developer there by the name of Tasssadar. There are a few ways to utilize this mod. Essentially how it works is that it allows you to install an additional ROM to your Nexus 7 without messing with the ROM already installed on your Nexus 7. So if you’re looking to try something a little more drastic, this is the mod to try out.
You can use the internal storage to install your second ROM or use an external flash drive if you have a USB OTG cable and a flash drive at your disposal. So if you’ve always wanted to try Ubuntu or Ubuntu Mobile without messing up your current setup, this is how you do it.
Nexus 7 MultiROM Mod is awesome, but dangerous so be careful!
It should be noted that this is a very dangerous mod and you should really make sure you know what’s going on before you try it out. So if you’re looking to just flash something real quick, hit the brakes a little bit and make sure you read what you’re actually doing. Otherwise, you could end up doing some real damage to your device. As always, the only person responsible for your device is you, so make sure you read everything and make the appropriate backups!
If you’re looking to take your Nexus 7 experience to the next level, you can find the mod in this thread over at XDA.
