ASUS has been on the forefront of the Android Army for quite some time now. Ever since they brought their tablet line to the world with Android 3.0 Honeycomb, and were the first to update their tablets to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the company has kept its strong and close relationship with Google quite apparent.
And now it looks like they are hoping that will continue into the future, as TechRadar has revealed that ASUS believes they will be first to the market with Android 5.0 Jelly Bean.
Here’s the interesting quote, which was made by Benson Lin, ASUS’ Corporate Vice President:
- “Asus is very close to Google, so once they have Android 5.0 I think there will be a high possibility that we will be the first wave to offer the Jelly Bean update.”
- Very interesting indeed. For one, unless Lin is simply going off the rumors of the Internet, it would seem that the next (major) version of Android will indeed be 5.0, and be code named Jelly Bean. Google hasn’t confirmed that, necessarily, but it’s a good assumption at this point (if you’re fond of assuming, that is).
- Considering ASUS’ track record with Android software, it wouldn’t be too far off to envision the company getting their hands on Android 5.0 pretty quickly.
